In this tutorial I’ll show you how to reset ink counter in Canon MP series printers. This reseting method works fine only with non-blocked cartridges (not fully empty). If you have any suggestions or questions please contact me.

1. Unplug power cord from printer.
2. Press RESET button and hold it down.
3. Pressing RESET button press POWER button and hold both buttons.
4. Pressing POWER button release RESET button.
5. Without releasing POWER button press RESET button two times. Release POWER button and don’t press anything more.
6. Wait until LED disp. shows „0″ (zero)
7. Press RESET button three times and confirm operation by pressing POWER button one time, wait three seconds press RESET button four times and one time POWER button.
8. Open printer cover and remove both cartridges.
9. Press RESET button three times and confirm operation by pressing POWER button one time.
10. Turn off printer by pressing POWER button one time.
11. Wait until the printer is off and close printer cover.
12. Turn on printer.
13. Now printer’s display shows E5 error (cartridge error). Don’t touch any buttons in next 10 seconds.
14. Now you can insert cartridges back to printer.
15. Wait five seconds for ink indicator update. Now printer cartridges should be full.
